Health and Social Care

Our surveys in East Hampshire confirm that the NHS remains local residents’ top priority.  We are rightly investing more in our NHS than ever before and I agree with the Conservative commitment to build on this further.

I have welcomed recent investments that will benefit East Hampshire residents at QA and the seed funding for the Hampshire Hospitals Trust build project.  I will campaign to support services at our community hospitals in Alton and Bordon and for Chase Hospital in Bordon to be fully retained until new healthcare provision is in place.

It is good news that people on average are living longer, but this also means there are more people living with chronic conditions, and indeed sometimes with multiple chronic conditions.  Funding long-term care is a very tough challenge but one we must grasp, and one that is going to have to involve significant changes in how we do things.
