East Hampshire Conservatives invite you to a debate on skills and training at Sheet Village Hall on Friday 13th April 2018, from 7pm to 9.30pm.

Whose responsibility should training be: the citizen, schools and universities, the employer, the state, all of them? How might a Conservative government boost productivity across UK; and deal with possible widening income gaps arising from increased automation?  In what ways could the UK build on its world class reputation for training, and expand opportunities for lifelong vocational training? What policies should a Conservative government adopt in relation to reducing our reliance on skilled expertise from abroad?

There will be an opportunity for all those attending to consider these issues in groups, and to express and share their views with an expert panel comprising:

  • The Rt Hon Damian Hinds MP - Secretary of State for Education
  • Mr. Philip Greenish - Chief Executive of The Royal Academy of Engineering and Council Member for the University of Southampton
  • Mr. Stephen Gilder - Manager of the Future Skills Centre, Bordon

There will be no charge for this public information event which is open to members and their friends. A welcome drink will be provided on arrival.  To reserve a place(s) simply e-mail trevor.hines@ssfp.org.uk .
