About Damian

Damian Hinds is the Conservative candidate for East Hampshire. He has been MP for the constituency between 2010 and 2019.

Damian lists his main policy interests as education, business and the economy, and tackling climate change. He also takes a special interest in financial inclusion, and industries important to East Hampshire, such as agriculture, tourism and precision engineering. He has taken up causes from credit unions to the fly-grazing of horses, and worked with local groups on issues from environmental campaigns to opportunities for local young people.

Damian has served as a Treasury minister, Employment Minister and Secretary of State for Education.  Before Parliament, he worked for 19 years in the private sector, mostly in the hotel and pub sectors. Outside politics, Damian enjoys music, reading and ‘low-intensity’ cycling. Damian is married to Jacqui; they have three children.
